Since the late 1940’s Edinburgh has been a hotbed for artistic talent, beginning with the International Festival and the Festival Fringe. The summer programme has now grown to include the Military Tatoo, the Film Festival, the Book Festival, the Jazz and Blues Festival and the Mela. Combined, these festival tend to be referred to as 'The Festival'. They cover a huge range of performance syles and venues and are probably the largest and most prestigious arts festivals in the world.
